Sirui Dragon Series B24R Bendable LED Light Kit Review

Welcome to my website, folks. My name is Shane.  In today’s review, we are checking out the world’s first bendable light from Sirui.  This is the Sirui Dragon Series B25R, Bendable RGB, LED, Duo Lighting Kit.  This Bendable light is very different from a conventional LED Panel Light physically, but they technically share a lot of common ground.

These lights are like nothing I have ever used or seen before.  Thanks to their unique design, they will give you excellent results for filming product shots, Broll, or anything else. You can also set them up in a position on a desk or light stand and use them as your main lights. The Sirui Dragon B24R Bendable LED lights can be controlled Independently or together using a free phone app via Bluetooth or the buttons on the back panel.

Disclaimer

Before we get into it, a huge thanks to Sirui for sending these out for review; they are not paying me to make this video but are letting me hold onto this sample unit.  This is a pros and cons review, and I’ll give you my thoughts about them at the end of the review. If you want to check out this pack, I’ll link it in the description below.  Okay.  Let’s get into it!

What is included in the Box?

The box includes two bendable light panels, two AC adapters and power cables, and an info card. There’s also a mounting bracket system for attaching them to a light stand.  This mounting bracket allows the lights to be set up in an array on a single stand, or you can connect each mount using the quick-release system built into each panel’s side. Unfortunately, no light stands are included, so you’ll need to order them separately.  I’ll leave some light stand recommendations down in the description below.

Sirui B25R Power Options

The Sirui Dragon RGBs can also run on Sony NPF batteries – I tested these with my third-party NPF batteries, and they worked perfectly.  The output power is rated at a massive 2000Lux at .5 of a meter.  These lights are way brighter than I was anticipating.  For greater flexibility, you can run them in 1% power settings from 0 to 100% brightness.  Weighing in at only 960 grams (or 2.12 pounds), they are light enough to make for a portable lighting kit if you need lighting on location.

How the Sirui LED Bendable Light Panels Work

Let me give you a quick rundown of how the Sirui Dragon Series RGB light works.  This light is a two-way bendable LED system that allows you to shape the light in either direction. The benefit of bending the light is how much easier it is to create professional product shots or roll with little effort.

The Sirui lights can also be combined, allowing you to light an object from two or four sides depending on how many you have on hand.  I usually break out the smaller portable LED lights when I do my product shots, but they need to be handheld for the best effect.  Combining two or more panels will yield far better results with less effort.

Free Sirui Light App and Bluetooth Connectivity

There’s more to these lights than just simply being bendable.  These LED panels can also produce various lighting types, colors, and some pretty wild effects.  To simplify the process of selecting the lights, I suggest downloading the Sirui Light app that allows you to control the lights simultaneously or independently.

Ensure you have Bluetooth turned on, and the app will find the lights.  You then have the option to control them by light or by the group if you have more than one panel on hand.  Once the lights are paired, you can turn them on and off using the app.  I love this feature on LED lights, I can walk into a room, tap a button on my app, and the lights are good to go!

Color Temperature

The Sirui B25R bendable light has a wide color temperature range that covers 2700k on the warm side to 8500k on the cool side.  If you use these in a studio situation as a main light, you can set them to 5500k. This is a good starting point and will give you a close-to-daylight or natural light effect –  it’s how I set my primary light here in the studio. The CRI rating is listed at 96. Anything above a score of 90 on the color rendering index is considered extremely accurate – so 96, is great.

RGB Mode allows you to set both panels in any color variation.  You can use the app control to tap on a preset or the color wheel for a more precise color selection.  These lights are some of the fastest I’ve seen when it comes to their response time when interacting with the app.  Great stuff!

16 Special Effects

One of the coolest things about these panels is we get 16 built-in effects, and we can tweak them to no end when it comes to brightness or intensity.  These are great when adding some lighting to a short film and deliver great results when used correctly.

Color Picker Option

Additionally, you can use the “picker” option in the app to match the color of another light in the room.  The app launches your camera to determine the color temperature of the light. You can customize this further by using the hue and saturation options if you need to shift the temperature manually.  This is the best implementation of this picker option I have tested so far. It works perfectly, and there’s no need to take a photo and select it from the photo gallery, as you might find on other lights.

Another nice feature is easily storing up to 10 users’ presets in HSI mode.  If you know, you need a bunch of regular effects for a project.  You can store and easily recall presets using the back panel or mobile app.

These lights are unique, powerful, and very easy to operate.  You get everything you need in the box to get going except light stands.  Thanks to the mounting options and included brackets, you will have plenty of options regarding how you want to use them for those product reviews, as I do on my YouTube channel.  Having a light that can bend makes getting pro-looking Broll a breeze.

Bendable Design and Durability

There’s something really strange about bending these lights for the first time. It’s so counterintuitive to bend any electronics, haha.  My only small critique is that these lights held their form better when used independently. However, when I used both lights simultaneously, this wasn’t a problem.  It may loosen up over time, but I haven’t had these long, so we’ll see.

Sirui Bendable LED Lights Build Quality

The build quality is solid, and the overall design is smart, intuitive, and simple.  I don’t think anyone who has used an RGB panel before will even need to read the manual.  For those with a YouTube or Photography set, these lights are a great addition. for making the b-roll look much nicer with little effort.    The dual RGB mode looks wild when capturing products placed under or in front of them.
