New Firmware for Lumix S5II, S5IIX, GH7, and G9II

We have some new firmware updates for the LUMIX S5II, S5IIX, GH7, and G9II Mirrorless Cameras!

Welcome back, my name’s Shane. In this article, I’ll summarize the new firmware updates for the Micro Four Thirds and Full Frame cameras from Panasonic. The firmware versions include 3.2 for the S5II, 2.2 for the S5IIX, 1.3 for the GH7, and 2.3 for the G9II.

Framing Markers

First, each camera now supports up to three framing markers on screen at the same time, great for social media content. The MP4 Lite codec has been added, making it easier to send files wirelessly to LUMIX Lab.

LUMIX Lab

LUMIX Lab now fully supports remote shooting and wireless IP Streaming—note that streaming is only available for the S5IIX and GH7. Autofocus updates enhance subject detection for Airplane and Train tracking and offer improved targeting for Cars and Motorcycles.

Hybrid Zoom

Also included is the Hybrid Zoom feature, allowing extended zoom capabilities with the 20-60mm lens, and the Crop Zoom feature from the GH7, letting you assign a crop area in photographic modes.

What’s Not Included

However, it’s worth mentioning that the S5II and X remain limited to DFD autofocus when shooting HD at 50p. Overall, these updates enhance functionalities, especially for autofocus, hybrid zoom, MP4 Lite recording, and crop options.

It’s great to see Lumix supporting these camera systems into 2025 and giving the customers what they need! I dig it.
