Panasonic Announced Lens Refresh! M43 is NOT DEAD Yet
Great news, Micro Four Thirds is not DEAD yet!
A month ago, Panasonic officially listed three lenses as discontinued on their Lumix Japan website including:
- Panasonic Leica 12-60mm F2.8-4
- Panasonic Leica 25mm F1.4 Prime Lens
- Panasonic 42.5mm F1.7 Prime
These were officially marked as discontinued, but the great news is, they are back! Each of these three lenses are now being shipped with a new Florine coating which helps repel water and oil, and a new matted great font on the front of the lens to reduce reflections. This information is now confirmed thanks to Panasonic Australia and officially up on the Lumix Japan website.
Hear more about the lenses on my video below along with some commentary regarding the lack of marketing when it comes to the M43 line. Thanks for watching and reading this blog.
Discontinued
There are two lenses which are officially discontinued and those include:
- Panasonic G 14mm F2.5 Pancake Prime Lens
- Panasonic G 20mm F1.7
These lenses are so old now and I can’t imagine that they are top sellers anymore due to the old AF systems and breathing. Hopefully, we see a refresh of a 20mm prime at some point.
